Rainbow Warrior
My Christopher Kane sample sale find has got me chasing rainbows - how will you wear colour this summer?
As a lifelong colour addict, I'm on a mission to splash the world in colour and inspire others to be bolder in the colours they wear. While rainbows may not be for everyone, they have been all over the S/S18 catwalks ~ from the über-influential Gucci, to Dolce & Gabbana and Peter Pilotto, rainbow stripes and streamers brightened global runways. And the inevitable trickle effect is settling in colourful puddles on the high street!
Questionable weather analogies aside, colours are widely believed to lift our mood and chromotherapy has been used for centuries to cure diseases. So why not brighten up your day, and that of everyone around you, and wear a pop of colour this summer? You don't have to wear them all at once, unless you really want to!
I found my rainbow at a pot of gold!
That pot of gold was in fact a Christopher Kane sample sale in the heart of London, held on my birthday, a couple of weeks ago [London sample sale calendar].
Renowned for his bright colours, rebellious aesthetic and award-winning designs, I've been a fan of the Scottish designer since picking up a couple of dresses from his third collection for Topshop in 2009. These included the signature, 'crocodile dress' and the super-sexy, rivet-encrusted bodycon dress (right).

Style Notes
With such a riot of colour and print, this mini shift dress doesn't need complicated styling. I picked these white shoe-boots, as they're deliberately smooth and featureless, and reference the white base colour of the dress (KG, old but similar here). Given the changeable weather, I've thrown on a mannish, oversized orange coat (last season Zara, but similar here and here), and a simply-shaped, orange drop earring. The round orange purse echoes the bag shape of the season (but was languishing, unloved, in my closet), so the dress has given it a new lease of life (similar here)!
