Her Dark Materials

Dark florals are the perfect way to transition into autumn… and they’ll be every bit as stylish come spring!

As the so-called ‘cost of living crisis’ shows little sign of abating, it’s no secret we’re all trying to do more with less at the moment. And there’s no reason our wardrobes can’t do the same. Case in point, this floral trouser suit from H&M that I snagged a month or so ago. I just love how versatile, fun and easy it is to style. Not to mention, it’s now on sale (there are limited sizes in the blazer, so don’t dally)!

As I write, Glasgow is enjoying another burst of late summer sunshine. It’s even warm enough for a final flourish in a bubblegum pink sundress! So the slightly incongruous bralet with which I’ve styled the suit actually feels completely on point and just goes to prove that there is a lot of seasonal mileage in this suit than possibly meets the eye.

~ Style Notes ~

With the dark, black as the base colour, this suit will work with lots of pieces from your existing autumn/winter wardrobe:

A loafer and black trench coat will take you to work, while an oversized coat in the pink/green/blue/yellow [insert colour of choice] and a blouse will take you from desk to dinner with the simple swapping out of an earring and clutch bag.

Desk to dinner…

Just add heels!

Brunchin’

Layer a classic crew neck sweater under the jacket and team with your favourite jeans for a girls’ brunch.

Winter walkin’

On cooler days, add a simple crew neck sweater or hoodie, and pair with a chunky trainer for urban cool on the go… or find the chunkiest, cosiest knit and blend the trousers with boots for a Sunday walk…

The options are endless - go forth and flourish this autumn… winter, and next spring and summer!
