The Perfect Piece for Day-to-Night Staycation Dressing

While the world scrambles to reopen and get back to the business of life and summer holidays, Covid 19 clearly has a different idea. As I write, the UK had reimposed a 14-day quarantine on travellers returning from Spain and the Spanish islands, and I can’t help but wonder: which country will be next?

So the idea of staying put and enjoying the best our own countries have to offer could be the safest and perhaps best way to pass the summer of 2020. But that doesn’t mean we can’t staycation in style!

Easy [Very] Breezy Day Look

The key difference, as I see it, is that we’ll need less beachwear and more adaptable, layer-able looks that can take us from warm sunshine, to cool and cloudy conditions or a downright downpour in the space of an afternoon - such is the British Summer! We’ll also want to pack less, but wear more - in other words, wear the items we pack in more ways than one.

With this in mind, read on to see how I’m styling this versatile H&M dress for day to nighttime, with just a few alternative accessories.

Loose and airy, but with long sleeves and in full maxi length, this dress, from the H&M Conscious Collection, is pure cotton, so it’s breathable in the heat, but covered up enough for cooler days. It pairs perfectly with trainers or slides and the colours could not be more cheerful!

After Dark…

Cinch with a broad, waist belt - this defines the waist and adds a lovely femininity to the silhouette. Crank yourself up in some sky-high platforms, or play it safer in ballet flats or kitten heels. Throw your hair up in a simple, messy topknot and add chandelier earrings, et voilà! You’ll be dinner-ready in minutes.
