Seeing You Through Spring

3 Ways to Style a Suit for Off-Duty Chic

Shot by Iain Gallagher

Part I: The Transparent Trench and Trousers

Following my last post, Suits You, I wanted to break down the suit, so to speak, to highlight the versatility and breadth of options a good suit will offer you. That makes it one savvy investment purchase that you might want to make online now, because once we’re out of lockdown, just think how much you’ll enjoy dressing up for every outing! Whether you want to be smart for the office, casual for a day of shopping or dressed up for a stylish girls’ lunch or a subtle-but-sexy date night, a suit will see you right! And believe me, I could’ve styled on and on and…

Date Night With a Difference

This look offers glamour and sophistication in equal measure, and it will work for every body shape. Keeping things tonal helps elongate the frame and adds a subtle airiness to the transparency of the trench coat. I’ve paired a faux leather, bandeau crop top with the high-waited trousers from the suit to keep the look modest, yet alluring. Plenty of skin is visible through the sheer organza, but by buttoning all the way up, I’m playing with the peekaboo sheerness of the Mack.

Unfortunately, this trench has sold out, but fear not! I’ve found some beautiful alternatives I’m loving right now. Scroll on down!

Accessories Maketh the Look

More than ever, a tonal look comes alive with some key accessories. They can be used to add interest, texture and even quirkiness to an otherwise simple look. I’ve kept my accessories tonal. Maxi pearl earrings add movement and reflect light onto the face. The oversized sunnies are a beautiful, warm toffee tone that not only complements my colouring, but also blends well with this wintery white and flesh-toned look. The woven, textured minaudière, with tassel adds a swish to your walk (although it might not accommodate your phone - oops)! Consider not just accessories and shoes, but makeup too. Nothing too garish is required - stick to nudes and glowing skin.
