Romantic deconstruction | Wen Pan SS20 FASHION SCOUT MERIT AWARD WINNER

Wen Pan delivers deconstructed layers of textural tailoring to a flower-strewn runway

Neutral Focus on Feminine Tailoring

Keeping the palette all but neutral Pan sent softly tailored tops, jackets and palazzos down the runway. Each piece, tucked, pleated and all-but-ragged, created a flowing aesthetic that wafted past as though carried on a summer breeze.

Subtle Seafoam Checks

Colours were broadly muted, but the seafoam checks were bold and, paired with whites, greys and soft greens, evoked Mediterranean seascapes with sunny sparkles on the water.

Key Piece: the Summer Coat

Personally, I love a coat. Summer, winter, spring or fall! Perhaps it’s the unpredictability of the Scottish climate, or simply the way they make me feel, a coat adds a layer of interest and movement that a simple dress often lacks. These coats had movement to die for! Voluminous, belted and sometimes slashed or pulled apart with a patchwork-type aesthetic, in two-tone fabric that drew the outside in and the inside out.

Springtime Abundance

These ensemble shots, edited as stills from my final walk video footage, hopefully demonstrate the sheer joy of spring as expressed in the lightness of the collection. The deconstruction of hems and the fluidity of layering breaks away from boxed-in, structured tailoring and lends a femininity to each look that makes me want to run to sunnier climes!

The Details - Direct from the FROW

Being front row meant I could have reached out and touched the fabrics. Of course, I didn’t, but these close-ups should help illustrate the embroidery, ribboned shoes and exquisite layering Pan employs.

The Final Walk

Thanks to Wen Pan and Fashion Scout for inviting me. I hope to see many more seasons of her burgeoning talent.

Thank you!
